The charisma of a leader in politics, church the job or family can be an inspiration that can be positive or a crutch. Our faith often gets too tied to the priest, pastor, rabbi or imam. If they fail we feel like we failed. I was too young to understand but a few preachers I liked as a kid were trying to divorce me from them. Once the charisma gets you to church it has to be the teacher in them that makes you realize that their failings are not yours and you have a personal relationship with God not a group experience.
